About Dr. Nishime
Dr. Robert S. Nishime, M.D. is a Family Physician in the heart of San Jose's Japantown. Dr. Nishime is dual-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine in Sports Medicine and Family Practice.
Dr. Nishime was born and raised in Chicago, IL and received his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University. He then attended Rush Medical College in Chicago, where he completed his medical school with honors and residency in Family Medicine. Dr. Nishime moved to the Bay Area for his specialty training in Sports Medicine at the Stanford University-affiliated fellowship program.
Dr. Nishime is experienced in child & adolescent care, adult medicine and acute/urgent care. He is also a pioneer in combat sports medicine and provides expert care to athletes of all ages and skill levels.
Dr. Nishime served over 15 years as the Chief of Sports Medicine for USA Judo. He also is a team physician for San Jose State University Athletics and San Jose State Judo. Dr. Nishime is the medical consultant for the American Kickboxing Academy (AKA) as well as the team physician for the San Francisco Giants and the 49ers.

Dr. Nishime provides orthopedic assessments, reviews X-ray and MRI results, and recommends interventions like braces or casting. His services cater to active individuals, weekend warriors, and professional athletes. He also is skilled in injection procedures.
Concussion management is an emerging area within the arena of Sports Medicine. Dr. Nishime possesses extensive expertise and training in the realm of concussive brain injuries. Whether incurred within a domestic setting, as a result of a motor vehicle incident, or during athletic pursuits, Dr. Nishime guarantees meticulous attention to the treatment, monitoring, and recovery of your concussion injury.
